The Mi'kmaqs

Mikmaq stories have always been an important part of Mi’kmaq culture. Storytelling was used to entertain each other and share information. There is a central theme in almost every story. That theme is how a character gained something, used it and lost it, and the consequences of having it (this type of theme being respected and feared by the Mikmaqs). This can be shown in a Mi’kmaq legend, which is called “How the Rabbit Got his Long Ears’’. Which describes how the rabbit tricked the forest and got his ears pulled by the Kluskap (a human).
