Dances

Along with many different forms of art, dances make up a big part of Acadian culture. With the lack of documentation, it is incredibly hard, if not impossible to be sure that the dances from long ago haven’t evolved throughout the years. Traditional Acadian dances include the Quadrille, which is a square dance that is performed to lively fiddle music, and the reel, which is a fast-paced dance that is typically performed to the accompaniment of the accordion. The traditional Acadian dances are usually led by a caller, who gives instructions to the dancers in French. These dances are usually performed in circles.
